If you ever rented a car, regardless of how you planned to pay for the actual rent, the car rental company probably asked you for a credit card. It is common practice for most car owners to ask their customers to credit cards at the time of rental.

Not only ask for your credit card information, most car owners, a credit card authorization and advance registration fee to cover expenses related to possible damage to the car while it is in your possession. In essence, your card is used as a deposit against loss or damage.
