Making air travel" simply "was one of the themes I came away with today's tape cutting ceremony for Skybus Airlines at the St. Johns County Airport in St. Augustine, Florida. Apart from the fact that I am in St. Augustine from Columbus, Ohio, and the fact that I still have my home in Columbus, Ohio, and that this makes sense for me personally, that a convenient, inexpensive and simple solution for my own needs commuting, Skybus Airlines makes it so easy again! What does this flight is an easy access to Jacksonville, Daytona Beach and Orlando and other parts of Florida with an easy drive from St. Augustine from the mid-west! Skybus also has a direct flight to Punta Gorda (Ft Myers) for the journey to the west coast of Florida.
When I had my first flight at the age of 16, I remember, on a tarmac to a plane at LaGuardia Airport in New York to fly directly to North Carolina with my father. It was an exciting time and I remember walking to the airplane. It looked so great! The requisites of the area (there were very few jets back in the 60s) were bright in the sun. It filled me with wonder to know how this plane would ever of the Earth. The smell of the aircraft fuel was overwhelming and the 2 stewardesses (they were all women) greeted me with her smile and reassuring words.
Fast forward to today, it was a "Back to the Future" experience safely. The ease of travel from point A to point B is just what the doctor ordered for my stressed out life. I have no more to Jacksonville, Orlando and Daytona Beach, a direct flight home. Call me selfish, but there are hundreds of people with me in this joyful experience from the mid-west. The answer (have) for this type of service is so good that Skybus Airlines, a second daily flight from St. Augustine and Columbus, Ohio, and they have a service between Portsmouth, NH and St. Augustine. The two additional services will begin December 17, 2007. Now I can easily visit family in the Massachusetts area!
The whole idea about the amazingly low prices (at least every flight has 10 seats for the price of 10 U.S. dollars and then goes up incrementally) is the average person the opportunity to fly for a reasonable price. The fact is, you really need for the future flights because the tickets go quickly.
At least four of my personal friends have flown on Skybus Airlines out already. Mostly she welcomes the experience say it was the best flying experience they have ever had! Now that is a testament to many other airlines covet.
The Air Terminal for Skybus is nearly 12,000 square feet. It was in a "record 54 days" at a price of about 1.6 million.
