Thrifty Car Rental is exclusive in the terminal provider of rental vehicles for customers in the Lake Express High Speed Ferry.

Lake Express is the first US-built and operated high-speed ferry, the express, passengers and cars between Milwaukee and Muskegon, Mich. The ferry, which began regular service Wednesday, shuttles passengers in Lake Michigan in just two and a half hours.

Thrifty Car Rental, a subsidiary of Tulsa-based Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, the only car to offer in-terminal services at both ends of the lake. Customers have the opportunity to book a rental car at the time they buy their Lake Express ticket, or they may directly with Thrifty.

O'Callaghan has Thrifty Car Rental franchisee since 1997. He has four locations in the Milwaukee region.

The Muskegon, Michigan, franchise - on the other side of Lake Michigan - is owned by Bob Lautenbach, a thrifty franchisee for 11 years. Lautenbach has five locations.

Lake Express is 250 passengers, 46 cars, motorcycles and bicycles in Lake Michigan. Lake Express will be three return flights a day during the June to September and two round trips daily October-December 2004. In 2005, service will begin on 1 May.
