Powerscourt House and Gardens Powerscourt is one of Ireland's most famous estates and gardens, it is about 20 km from the city center of Dublin. Powerscourt House was designed by Richard Castle around 1730, and was burned down accidentally in 1974.

Further down is the arboretum with its splendid collection of trees, including a Sitka spruce Ireland the highest tree. Other important features of the garden is the walled garden with its colorful rose beds, the Dolphin Pond, The PET cemetery and the Japanese Garden from 1908.

Powerscourt Estate, the highest waterfall - 90 meters - in Ireland. It is Powerscourt Waterfall and is surrounded by woods. You can picnic or go for a long refreshing walk.

Malahide Castle Malahide Castle lies south-west of the small seaside resort of Malahide, on 250 hectares of the country park. It is really unique because it has been inhabited continuously by the Talbot family from 1185 to 1976. Here you will find many beautiful furniture in this medieval castle and a large collection of Irish portrait paintings.

The castle has its own spirits, not just one but five: Mr. Galtrim, Lady Maud Plunkett, Chief Justice, Miles Corbett and last but not least Puck. Be prepared, you will definitely feel their presence in the old walls.

Audio-guided tours depart every 15 minutes, duration of the tour is approximately 35 minutes. Malahide Castle's restaurant is known for its tasty food, so why not a nice lunch after your tour.



Howth It is worth a day trip to Howth, a fishing and yachting port, popular suburban resort. You can walk in the harbor, where Howth Lighthouse can also be found. It is the best place to spot sea lions in the sea. There is also an abbey of the 12th Century cemetery in the heart of the city overlooking the harbor. On the west side of the harbor are Howth Castle and domain, the seat of the St. Lawrence family. The estate is famous for its rhododendrons - over 2000 varieties - and azaelas.
