car rental john wayne airport

First, most U.S. drivers already car-insurance, the full or partial protection while driving a car (within certain limits, dollar and coverage only for rentals in the United States and, sometimes, Canada). Some insurance only for the cars rented, while the car is repaired, while the majority does not cover certain types of vehicles such as luxury cars or vans. Check your own policy for these limitations and exclusions.

Even with these limitations, your personal auto insurance is the primary source of coverage, if you have an accident or injury while driving a car. Other types of coverage, such as credit card and the landlord is the voluntary insurance is offered at the time of booking, will occur. This means it does not apply until you have reached the maximum number of your own car insurance. Also, be aware that your personal car insurance rates can increase if you are entitled to a car being damaged.

Some states have legislators in the landlord to inform you that their insurance May duplicate your personal auto policy, although these laws do not specify how to notify. The best way for you to do is to talk directly with your auto agent before you rent a car and the following questions.

What geographic area does my policy offer rental coverage? (General, auto policy for the U.S. and Canada only.)

How much responsibility do I currently have coverage? (If you have an older car, for example, you can only take the minimum amount of liability coverage that is required by the laws of the state, a level that may not be sufficient to protect against the risk of completely replacing a new car or perhaps even worse, with an excessive personal injury claims.

How much is my deductible? (Are you willing to pay that amount out of pocket if you have a claim for damaging a rental car?)

Is my policy only on the value of the vehicle (s) on my policy? (If yes, you should use this value to the replacement costs of the type of car you are renting.)

Is my policy for theft and collision damage? (Most U.S. drivers already collision coverage can replace that protection sold by rental car companies.)

At the end, the decision whether or not to purchase additional optional insurance from a car rental company is yours, of course. Consider also the value of insurance against the cost and taking into account the above information and the decision with all the facts.
